Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was pelted with a bouquet of flowers as he left the field following Sunday’s loss.
If Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes, does Nick Sirianni rest among flowers?
That’s one of many questions Eagles fans have after Philadelphia’s 27-24 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Despite controlling a lead in the second half, the Eagles managed to allow Justin Herbet back into the game and set up a game-winning field goal as time melted off the clock.
Plenty of things went wrong for the Eagles on the field, but one of the most bizarre moments happened as head coach Nick Sirianni left it.
As Sirianni was leaving the field, it appears as though a fan threw a bouquet of flowers at him before he entered the tunnel.
The Eagles coach was less than thrilled by this, as one can probably understand:
Considering this is Philly, there are a number of things worse than flowers that could have been hurled at Sirianni after the loss. Then again, being that it is Philly, having something like a bouquet of flowers thrown at him could be a Luca Brasi-style message.
It’s not that, but still.
Speaking of being less than thrilled, Eagles fans haven’t had a lot to be happy about this year. Sirianni was brought in to be a guru for Jalen Hurts, but the result has been one of the league’s worst offenses and a totally incoherent scheme.
A blowout win over the Detroit Lions aside, the Eagles haven’t looked like the explosive offense that was advertised when Sirianni was hired. That’s no excuse to throw anything at the coach, but it’s amazing how quickly the bottom has fallen out and fans in Philly are turning on the first-year head coach.
