The Pittsburgh Steelers could have three defensive players return for this Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a devastating, 36-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, where they almost overcame a 29-0 deficit. After that game, Pittsburgh’s chances of making the playoffs took a hit, and they have a challenging schedule until the end of the season. But, they may have some reinforcements on the way.
During a press conference on Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned that there is a chance that certain players will be able to return for this Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Those players included T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith and Joe Haden.
Multiple injured Steelers players have chance to return in Week 15
Watt was active for the Week 14 edition of Thursday Night Football, but was ruled out mid-game after picking up a groin injury. The linebacker recorded one total tackle before departing. Despite playing in just 11 games this season, Watt leads the league with 16 sacks.
Highsmith also left the Vikings game last week due to a knee injury. On the year, the linebacker has 30 total tackles and three sacks through 12 games this year.
Haden has missed Pittsburgh’s past four games after suffered a mid-foot sprain back in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions. Getting him suited up at Heinz Field would be a huge boost for their secondary. Haden recorded 24 total tackles, five defended passes and one forced fumble in eight games.
Getting these three defensive players back on Sunday would be a huge get for the Steelers. They are set to face a Titans offense that has averaged 347.2 yards (17th) and 24.9 points (15th) per game.
