Aaron Rodgers passed Brett Favre in the Packers record books on Christmas Day but the Hall-of-Fame quarterback had a message Green Bay fans will love.
Every Green Bay Packers fan knew it wouldn’t take Aaron Rodgers all that long to make franchise history on Christmas Day against the Browns. The potential MVP favorite entered the day tied with the legendary Brett Favre for the most touchdown passes in franchise history.
Sure enough, it took just two possessions for Rodgers to take the record for his own.
Midway through the first quarter after Green Bay forced an interception, Rodgers found wide receiver Allen Lazard in the flats and the pass-catcher did the rest of the work to get to the pylon for the score.
Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers after breaking Packers record: Go get us another Super Bowl
After the score, though, the Packers had a message for Rodgers at Lambeau Field from the man whose record he broke, Favre. And it was something that everyone in Green Bay has to love to hear.
You have to love the dryness of Favre in congratulating Rodgers on getting the record. But it definitely sent fans into a frenzy when he told “12” to “go get us another Super Bowl.”
For all that Aaron Rodgers has accomplished, the truth remains that he has just one Super Bowl ring to his credit with Green Bay. And with questions about his future with the franchise still hanging in the balance, it would be quite the storybook ending to this season for him to capture a second Lombardi Trophy.
Perhaps Favre’s message will be less of a request and more of a premonition. That’s certainly what Packers fans are hoping for.
