Former Green Bay Packers great Leroy Butler is calling for the team to trade for DK Metcalf now that Davante Adams is no longer with the team.
There’s going to be a totally different look for the Green Bay Packers next season. With Davante Adams being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, there’s a massive hole in the aerial attack for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Team legend Leroy Butler has a solution for that: go out and trade for DK Metcalf. Metcalf is one of the most exciting young talents in the game and Butler knows it. With Seattle looking like it could rebuild, would they be open to a deal?
A DK Metcalf trade would cost the Packers quite a bit
If Butler wants to see general manager Brian Gutekunst pull this off, then Green Bay will surely have to send Seattle multiple draft picks, including a first-rounder. As of now, there are no signs to the Seahawks even thinking about trading Metcalf, but Seattle will be a different squad moving forward too now that Russell Wilson is with the Broncos.
Soon enough, Metcalf is going to want to sign a monster contract extension. If Pete Carroll and Seattle want to keep running the football, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they didn’t pay Metcalf the kind of money he’s going to want.
Green Bay’s bread and butter is having Rodgers throw the ball all over the field. He and Adams have been a remarkable duo, which is why it’s so hard for Packers fans knowing that the two won’t be suiting up again together.
Butler is bummed about that fact, but he’s already looking to the future. If it were up to him, that future would have Metcalf making plays at Lambeau Field.
