Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson made it quite clear he still wants to be traded, as he was a no-show for OTAs on Thursday.
While the major focus around the NFL is whether or not Aaron Rodgers will suit up for the Green Bay Packers, don’t forget about the drama for the Houston Texans with Deshaun Watson. The star signal-caller has made it more than clear he wants to be traded.
While that situation is still up in the air, and Watson continues to battle his lawsuits for sexual misconduct, he was nowhere to be seen at OTAs for the AFC South squad on Thursday.
Deshaun Watson is still hoping the Houston Texans trade him this offseason
Again, this isn’t a shocker whatsoever, given the allegations he’s facing. Watson is also not happy with how things have shaped out with the Texans. Seeing J.J. Watt head to Arizona was difficult for him too, of course. The two were superstars together in Houston. Let’s no forget about the front office trading away DeAndre Hopkins either. What a mistake that proved to be.
Things only got worse for Houston with Watson when they didn’t even consult with him before making some big-time hires. It’s understandable to see why he wants out. Houston is in the middle of a major rebuild, with Watson feeling like the best years of his career are being wasted.
Now he’s waiting to see if the organization will actually give in to his demands and let him suit up elsewhere. With the 2021 campaign right around the corner, though, it’s still up in the air who Watson will be playing for come Week 1.
If the Texans don’t trade him, we could see him sit out and not play in 2021 instead. The longer things play out here, however, the more anxiety Texans fans will have. For now, Tyrod Taylor may be the Week 1 starter.
