Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has made it more than clear that he’s not ready to be compared to Tom Brady.
Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes are without question two of the best quarterbacks in the game, but only one man deserves the title of GOAT: Brady. After taking down Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this past winter, Brady now has seven Super Bowl rings.
Already, Mahomes is being compared to Brady, especially after he’s led the AFC West powerhouse to the big game in back-to-back seasons. There’s LeBron James-Michael Jordan talk floating around. As honored as he is, Mahomes isn’t quite ready for those just yet.
Patrick Mahomes thinks the Tom Brady comparisons are far too early
“I mean, it’s still early for the LeBron-Michael Jordan stuff but for me, if you’re in this league then you’re trying to win,” Mahomes said via Pro Football Talk. “You’re trying to be the best player on that football field every single day. Tom’s done it for a long time and he’s won a lot of Super Bowls.
“When you’re coming up and watching football, you want to go out there and win championships like he’s done. I’m going to try to do whatever I can every single year to put us in a position that we can win a lot of championships, hopefully.”
Brady of course is way ahead in the game with his seven titles compared to Mahomes’ one. This is something the Chiefs’ signal-caller is fully aware of. At the end of the day, he’s just going to go out onto the field and ball out the way he normally does. He’s not worried about trying to be like Brady. Matter of fact, he’s not going to worry about that at all leading up to the 2021 campaign.
