It seems Kansas Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is as good at playing golf as he is at dominating on the football field.
Patrick Mahomes couldn’t let Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers be the only NFL quarterbacks to impress on the golf course this week.
The Chiefs quarterback featured at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe and made sure he made waves with his long drives.
In fact, he dominated the Long Drive Competition with a 347-yard blast.
“Tell Marty Fisch I’m here!” Mahomes shouted, challenging the tennis pro who won last year’s tournament.
As for Travis Kelce, he just wished he didn’t have to follow up that shot from his teammate.
“I should have went before him,” Kelce said.
Patrick Mahomes has a powerful golf swing too
Would it kill Mahomes to share the wealth of his talent? Being able to throw the ball the way he can while also blasting golf balls like that is just plain unfair. Happy Gilmore had a killer drive, but he didn’t succeed at hockey on top of it.
As @billbrough on Twitter pointed out, “347 yards is an average Sunday afternoon for him.”
Granted, Mahomes has a career yards per game average of 307.7. Never doubt he’d be able to up his average if he was challenged to do it.
As it is, Mahomes focus is on winning games, and he does plenty of that. He’s 38-8 as a starter for the Chiefs.
The last three years have been magical for the Texas Tech product. He won the NFL MVP Award in 2018. The next season he won the Super Bowl, grabbing Super Bowl MVP honors to boot. He led his team to a second Super Bowl appearance, though Brady and the Buccaneers spoiled the party.
