Quarterback Aaron Rodgers showed that he could very well join the PGA Tour with this shot he made in the American Century Championship on Saturday.
Aaron Rodgers’ status for the 2021 NFL season is uncertain due to the reported deteriorating relationship with the Green Bay Packers. This past week, Rodgers spent some time on the golf course, where he and Bryson DeChambeau defeated Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in “The Match.” Rodgers returned to the green for this weekend’s American Century Celebrity Golf Championship and the success from his win earlier this week carried over.
On Saturday, Rodgers managed to hit an impressive chip shot on the 11th hole, showing that he can up and leave the NFL for the PGA Tour if he wanted to.
Aaron Rodgers hits impressive shot during American Century Championship
Calm down, Packers fans. We kid, of course. Rodgers did just come off an NFL MVP season, but he has shown he is very damn good at this golfing thing.
As for whether Rodgers will play in the 2021 season, that is still up in the air. During “The Match” this past Tuesday, Rodgers gave rather vague answers when asked if he will play for the Packers this upcoming season. In particular, Rodgers said “we’ll see, won’t we?”
During the American Century Championship on Saturday, the signal caller said in an interview with NBC Sports that he would “figure things out in a couple of weeks.” You can listen to his full comments in the tweet below:
Rodgers has not reported to Green Bay’s organized team activities or mandatory minicamp. He did not choose to opt out of the 2021 season by the July 2 deadline, so it is a matter of whether he will return to play for the Packers, or take snaps under center elsewhere.
With Rodgers saying he will “figure things out in a couple of weeks,” all eyes will be on their social media feeds to see what the official answer will be, as training camp nears.
