Former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Dede Westbrook is working out for the Minnesota Vikings Friday and could sign with the team if things go well.
The Minnesota Vikings receiving core has the best of both worlds. They have a rising star in Justin Jefferson and a seasoned veteran in Adam Theilen. When both are on the field, Kirk Cousins has no excuse why he can’t shred defenses apart with Jefferson’s route running and Thielen’s steady hands. Minnesota’s receiving core could get a considerable boost in the slot very soon.
Former Oklahoma standout Dede Westbrook is working out with the team on Friday, and he could find his new NFL home if he handles business.
NFL free-agent Dede Westbook working out for Vikings
The Vikings are hosting former Jacksonville Jaguar receiver Dede Westbrook for a workout on Friday, according to NFL Networks Ian Rapoport. If the workout goes well, the team will probably sign the speedy receiver, giving them a valuable asset in the slot. Minnesota is among three teams that are interested in Westbrook.
The former Jaguar played in 2 games last season, and an ACL tear in Week 7 ended his season. His best year in the NFL was in 2018 when he caught 66 balls for 717 yards and five touchdowns. Current Vikings receiver coach and Jacksonville legend Keenan McCardell coached Westbrook with the Jags, which is the common connection.
If Minnesota signs Westbrook, it gives Kirk Cousins another weapon to utilizes. The question is will he make the most of it?
