Kansa City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill found a foolproof way to prevent himself for getting fined for his “peace sign” taunt.

One of the main talking points throughout the NFL preseason was taunting penalties. In their official preview for the upcoming season, the Competition Committee revealed that enforcing taunting penalties will be their point of emphasis. A prominent player on the Kansas City Chiefs may have already found a loophole to avoid getting flagged for taunting.

According to Joe Pompliano of Huddle Up, Hill invested in a company called Grip Boost to create custom gloves after he was fined $10,527 for throwing up the peace sign. Now, he wears gloves with the peace sign on them to officially avoid being flagged for taunting.

What a way to work around a hefty fine from the league.

As mentioned earlier, the topic of taunting got some extra attention after New York Giants co-owner John Mara spoke out about it, saying “nobody wants to see a player taunting another player.” After Mara’s comments went viral, that caught the attention of players such as Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Competition Committee chairman Rich McKay stated in the league’s point of emphasis video that players who commit two taunting penalties will be subjected to an automatic disqualification, with the possibility of facing a fine or suspension depending on the severity of the actions.

Hill is known for his signature peace sign celebration at the expense of the opposing defense. That same gesture was even thrown back at him in Super Bowl 55 by Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. In 2021, he found a way to throw up a peace sign without actually throwing up a peace sign.
