Odell Beckham pens heartfelt goodbye to Cleveland Browns fans

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wrote a farewell statement to Cleveland Browns fans after he signed with the Los Angeles Rams.

Odell Beckham Jr. has been the talk of the NFL for the past week, as he and the Cleveland Browns agreed that a release from his contract was best for both parties. After the transaction became official on Monday and he cleared waivers on Tuesday, Beckham decided to sign with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday.

On Saturday, Beckham posted a letter he wrote to the fans and the Browns organization. He thanked the city of Cleveland, the Haslem family, the front office, coaching staff, the entire team  and Jarvis Landry.

The Browns acquired Beckham back in 2019 in a shocking trade with the New York Giants. In acquiring the wide receiver, Cleveland sent Jabrill Peppers, a first-round draft pick and and a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to New York. Those picks turned into defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence and linebacker Oshane Ximines, respectively.

He played the entirety of the 2019 season, but was active for just seven games in 2020 before tearing his ACL. But after six games in 2021, the wideout and the Browns mutually agreed to a release, with the team voiding the final two years of his deal.

Beckham caught 114-of-210 targets for 1,586 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, Beckham is signed with the Rams for the remainder of the season, where he can make upwards of $4.25 million depending on team performance. The move appeared to be a luxury, but is now a necessity after Robert Woods tore his ACL in practice on Friday. Now, Beckham likely slots in as the No. 2 wideout behind Cooper Kupp on the depth chart.

Beckham will make his Rams debut this Monday against the San Francisco 49ers.
