Unfortunately for the Arizona Cardinals, the expectation is that DeAndre Hopkins will be out for the rest of the regular season due to a knee injury.
If the Arizona Cardinals are going to capture the No. 1 seed in the NFC, they’re going to have to try and get the job done without star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. That’s because the speedster is expected to be out for the rest of the regular season.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Hopkins has suffered a sprained knee and it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to suit up until the postseason arrives. This is simply brutal news for Arizona.
DeAndre Hopkins knee injury is a tough blow for the Cardinals
Hopkins is one of the most electric wideouts in the game. He’s a huge difference-maker for the Arizona offense and quarterback Kyler Murray. Now that he will be out of action for the next few games, it will be on Christian Kirk, A.J. Green, Zach Ertz and others to try and pick things up.
Schefter added that Hopkins is seeking a second opinion, but surgery may be required here. With that said, Arizona is hopeful that he’ll be ready to rock for the postseason. Despite suffering a Monday Night Football loss to Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona remains in first place of the NFC West standings.
At 10-3, the team is also in the hunt to capture that coveted No. 1 seed in the NFC. They’d love a first-round bye in the playoffs, but the Packers, Bucs and others are ready to try and get that job done themselves.
Arizona has plenty of weapons on offense, but there’s simply no denying that losing Hopkins for this late stretch of games is going to sting quite a bit.
