Twitter is very upset with Matthew Stafford over photographer’s fall

A photographer fractured her spine at the Rams’ Super Bowl parade right in front of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford is known for his philanthropy in the community, so any inaction on his part certainly seems a little out of character. But with these sorts of celebrations — as is usually the case — adult beverages are flowing.

Heck, even Tom Brady warned Stafford to mix in a water here or there.

While on stage, photographer Kelly Smiley fell while trying to capture the moment, thus fracturing her spine. Stafford’s reaction has warranted plenty of social media criticism, and it’s easy to see why given the footage we have of the incident.

Stafford’s wife, Kelly, appeared to motion for help, while Matthew walked away.

By no means should Stafford be playing doctor in this scenario, but to simply walk away like her fall was no big deal show a surprising amount of disinterest from one human to another.

Smiley set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for some of the medical expenses after a trip to the trauma center.

Stafford’s reaction was less than ideal, and a bad look for a man who’d finally turned around his reputation as a lovable loser. This is far worse.

Of course, no one would want a potentially inebriated football player looking out for them in an emergency, but for Stafford to lack the decency to even check on her in the moment was, and remains, a questionable decision at best.

Expect the Rams quarterback to post his own recollection of events as this video continues to pick up steam.
