With the addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster to the Kansas City Chiefs offense, expect Patrick Mahomes to add even more highlights to his arsenal.
Smith-Schuster came to Kansas City on an affordable, one-year contract when it seemed no one in Pittsburgh’s front office, or the league for that matter, were willing to give him the multi-year deal he desired.
So, why not play with arguably the best quarterback in the NFL for a season?
Fresh off a season-ending injury, Smith-Schuster has plenty to prove. When healthy, he can be one of the best route-runners and possession receivers in the NFL. The Chiefs figure to line him up opposite of Tyreek Hill, or at times in the slot next to Travis Kelce.
The number of weapons the Chiefs have at their disposal isn’t fair to opposing defenses, and the newly-married Brittany Mahomes knows it.
Mahomes’ Twitter timeline is full of retweets welcoming Smith-Schuster to Kansas City.
It’s safe to say her — and her husband — are thrilled to have the wideout in town.
Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs excited about new weapon JuJu Smith-Schuster
“We’re fired up to add JuJu to this offense,” General Manager Brett Veach said. “He’s a dynamic athlete and a proven play-maker in this league. He’ll be an added threat to our offense, and I know our guys are excited to have him here. I’d like to thank his agent, Chafie Fields, and his team, as well as my staff for helping get this deal done. JuJu will be a great fit here in Chiefs Kingdom.”
Smith-Schuster is expected to be ready by the start of training camp, so he’ll contribute right away to the Chiefs offense as he learns a new playbook and forms a rapport with Mahomes from the jump.
