New Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is potentially facing a new charge in a different Texas county.
It’s becoming quite clear that the legal troubles for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson aren’t going to go away just yet. The latest news has people in Cleveland a bit nervous, as FOX 8 News is reporting that Watson could now be facing a new criminal charge.
Per FOX 8 in Houston, a different grand jury got together in Texas to go over new evidence against the former Pro Bowl signal-caller.
Browns: Deshaun Watson legal update
Earlier this month, a grand jury went over the more than 20 sexual assault cases against Watson, but decided not to file charges. As soon as this happened, it opened the door for NFL teams to go out and try to trade for him.
Several organizations showed interest, with Watson down to the Browns, Saints, Panthers and Falcons. Cleveland was originally out of the hunt, but then a change of heart for Watson resulted in him making his way to the AFC North.
Cleveland said they did extensive research on the situation and spoke with Watson at length about the accusations against him (though Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for the 22 plaintiffs in the civil case against Watson, claims the organization never reached out to him). While it looked like the worst from a legal standpoint was over for Watson, this newest update of a different grand jury getting involved has Browns fans worried.
The front office was taking a gamble on Watson when they decided to trade for him, and now things got a bit more complicated for the team as a whole. More news on Watson and the new evidence against him is sure to come out soon. Browns supporters are hoping that nothing too concerning ends up coming out against their new franchise QB.
