Bad news on Cowboys WR Michael Gallup has already arrived

The Dallas Cowboys will likely have to be without stud wide receiver Michael Gallup for the first 2-3 games of the campaign.

The start of the season, as expected, is going to be a bit complicated for Dak Prescott and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys offense. That’s because wide receiver Michael Gallup won’t be out on the field.

According to team vice president Stephen Jones, Gallup will likely miss the first 2-3 games of the year. Obviously, this will have a negative impact on the aerial attack, but Gallup is still recuperating from his torn ACL suffered in Week 17.

Michael Gallup recently signed his massive extension

The news of Gallup missing the start of the campaign isn’t a shocker to the Dallas faithful, as the speedster indeed suffered his serious knee injury late in the 2021 campaign. However, Dallas will hope that Gallup can return sooner than later this fall, as the team no longer has No. 1 wideout Amari Cooper in the mix.

Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Now, all eyes will be on CeeDee Lamb to see if he can emerge as Prescott’s favorite target in 2022. To open things off, Prescott will surely be looking Lamb’s way early and often in Week 1, especially with Gallup out of action.

With Gallup inking his five-year, $62.5 million extension, it shows the Dallas front office believes he can be a superstar wideout for this team. He’ll have to step up his game in a major way now that Cooper is in the AFC North, but head coach Mike McCarthy has loads of faith in him.

Dallas will miss Gallup in the opening weeks of 2022, but the fanbase as a whole can’t wait to see what he can do as soon as he’s able to put the pads back on.
