Cardinals play their part in Kyler Murray instagram breakup

The Arizona Cardinals deleted the majority of their Kyler Murray photos, thus playing a part in a bizarre social media breakup.

What the heck is going on with the Cardinals and Kyler Murray?

Neither party can really afford to part with the other, especially not Arizona, which has Murray signed to an affordable rookie contract without much of a backup plan.

Murray deleted the Cardinals from his social media last week. While one would expect Arizona’s front office to reach out to their No. 1 overall pick to make sure all is well, they’ve instead added a few coals to the fire.

Somehow, this is going to end up as a promotional campaign for Murray’s new clothing line, isn’t it?

Can Arizona Cardinals trade Kyler Murray?

Murray theoretically won’t hit free agency until 2024, unless the Cardinals trade him or decide not to pick up his fifth-year option. That would be insanity given Murray’s skill-set, and the fact that he’s looked like a Pro Bowler in stretches as recently as last season.

Sure, Arizona collapsed and failed to make the postseason, but should that all fall on Murray? The Cardinals surely wouldn’t choose a failed college head coach in Kliff Kingsbury over their franchise quarterback.

DeAndre Hopkins, for one, has no idea what’s going on:

“The only thing I could think [is] he wants to show off some new outfits for this upcoming season, he didn’t want you guys to look at the old ones,” Hopkins said, via Donnie Druin of SI.com.

Exactly. Unless something leaks about Murray and the Cardinals opting to part ways, consider this an odd tiff. But thus far this is nothing more than a little social media smoke.
