Patrick Mahomes gets shoutout from wife Brittany for incredible preseason performance

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had an incredible first preseason drive, and no one was more proud of him than his wife, Brittany Mahomes.

Mahomes and the Chiefs proved that maybe they don’t need Tyreek Hill to be a successful offense, after all. The 26-year-old Texas Tech product went 6-for-7 in his first preseason action of 2022, and led Kansas City down the field for a touchdown.

While most Kansas City supporters were curious how the offense would look without Hill, who routinely helped pressure the opposing secondary downfield, thus creating openings for the running game and Travis Kelce, Brittany Mahomes was just happy to see her husband succeed yet again.

Mahomes’ touchdown pass, which was a dump-off to backup tight end Blake Bell, was even more proof that Kansas City will spread the ball around more without Hill.

Patrick Mahomes highlights: Chiefs look great on offense

It should be no surprise that Mahomes and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (along with Andy Reid, of course) were able to adapt quickly without Hill.

While having a true No. 1 receiver on the outside is nice, using Hill’s money elsewhere to improve the roster gives the Chiefs are more balanced unit. Defensively, KC fell apart at times last season, especially in the secondary.

Kansas City’s front office, led by Brett Veach, is committed to Mahomes long-term for a reason. He fits into any offense, and will work with the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster to form a rapport. Add in rookies like Skyy Moore, and suddenly the Chiefs’ offense is far more capable than just Hill, alone.

Despite the rough playing surface, Mahomes got his game action in. To the surprise of no one, he’s still got it.
