Packers QB Aaron Rodgers continues to make his case for NFL MVP with a dominant first-half performance on Sunday Night Football against the Titans.
The NFL MVP race is going into the final weeks of the season and Aaron Rodgers isn’t taking any chances.
His performance in Week 16 against the Titans says everything about his case for a third MVP nod.
On Sunday Night Football, while fighting the snowy weather as much as Tennessee, Rodgers put on a show with three early touchdown passes, bringing his total for the season to a league-leading 43.
That trio of TDs gave the Packers a commanding 19-7 lead in the first half.
Aaron Rodgers has carried his MVP form to the end of the season
Rodgers’ prolific season is the best in his career. His touchdown total is now officially a career-high while he’s on track for one of his best passer ratings with a mark of 118 going into the Titans game. He has only thrown four interceptions, giving him the best interception percentage in the league this year.
The performance of the quarterback has propelled Green Bay into the top spot in the NFC. If they win their final two games they’ll lock up the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
Will that be enough for Rodgers to pick up the league MVP for the 2020 season? He has more touchdowns than Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes. He has fewer interceptions than both. His QBR and passer rating is higher than any other quarterback.
Rodgers was just named to the Pro Bowl for the ninth time in his career. Short of a spectacular regular-season finale for Mahomes or Wilson, he’ll lead the NFL in passing touchdowns for the second time. He’ll have to wait to find out if he can add a third MVP award to his trophy cabinet.
