Josh Jacobs was arrested for driving while drunk after the Raiders’ win over the Broncos.
The Las Vegas Raiders found a small silver and black lining to a disappointing season by defeating the rival Denver Broncos in spectacular fashion during their Week 17 matchup.
However, hours after the game, running back and offensive lynchpin Josh Jacobs found himself in trouble with the law as the Raiders star was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Jacobs was arrested at around 4:45 a.m. this morning after a single-car accident. Jacobs was released from custody, treated for minor injuries, and assigned his March 8 court date.
Josh Jacobs put a damper on a solid season in 2020
While Jacobs‘ yards per carry average dropped from 4.8 to 3.9 this season, he made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, running for 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns while topping his receiving stats from his rookie season. The Raiders were only 8-8, but their offense was extremely efficient, and Jacobs was a huge part of it.
Gruden wants to pound the ball up the middle, and the likes of Devontae Booker behind Jacobs aren’t equipped to shoulder the burden of starting. Jacobs went from a somewhat controversial first-round pick given his limited college production to one of the best young backs in the NFL, and he risks erasing all the goodwill he has engendered by acting like this as soon as the season ends.
The Raiders went from the team who upset to Patrick Mahomes and a potential playoff contender to another Raiders trainwreck who saw their seasons derailed. their best skill position player getting arrested literally hours after the end of the season might be on-brand for the Raiders, but Gruden and Mike Mayock have to be livid with Jacobs.
