NFL schedule Week 1: TV, dates, times and more

Football season is about to be in full swing. Here are the dates, times and TV schedule for the first week of NFL action.

The seven-month wait is finally over. As of Thursday, the regular season for the NFL will officially be underway. That will lead us into the weekend and the first NFL Sunday of 2018, which will be the first of many. In other words, it’s Christmas time in September.

If you’re heading out and hitting the tailgate parties, don’t forget to wear your jersey. But if you’re watching at home, you’ll need the television schedules and start times … as well as your jersey. Have these following TV stations ready to go starting on Thursday.

As per usual, the season will kick off with the defending Super Bowl champion hosting the season opener at their home stadium on Thursday night. We’ve got an NFC matchup between Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The game will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6 and will be broadcast live on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET.

After that, there will be a full day of NFL football on Sunday via both FOX and CBS, so apologize to your spouses in advance and get ready to be parked on the couch for 10 straight hours. A few marquee matchups you won’t want to miss will be the New England Patriots vs. the Houston Texans, the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Minnesota Vikings, and the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Los Angeles Chargers, just to name a few.

In the evening, Sunday Night Football will kick off in the grandest way possible: a game between two of the league’s biggest rivals, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. It could also now be referred to as Aaron Rodgers vs. Khalil Mack. The game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Finally, ESPN will air a pair of Monday Night Football games: New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions at 7:10 p.m. ET, followed by Los Angeles Rams vs. Oakland Raiders at 10:20 p.m. ET.
