Josh Gordon wants to make an impact in Week 1

Josh Gordon won’t start against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a factor.

There’s a chance Cleveland Browns fans might finally get to see Josh Gordon in action on Sunday.

Cleveland opens the 2018 season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and head coach Hue Jackson isn’t putting Gordon in the starting lineup due to the fact that he’s been away from the game for such a long time.

But, that doesn’t mean Gordon won’t play at all in the game. And when he gets the chance to get back on the field, he wants to make something happen. Essentially, he wants to make sure the Browns come away with a win — something they haven’t done in almost two years.

“I think first and foremost, personal stuff aside, I’m thinking of getting a win,” Gordon said, according to NFL.com. “How can I help my team get a win this Sunday? At the most crucial point of the game, what can I do to help put us over the edge if I’m needed? I really just want to get a win.”

In 2013, Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,646 and was named to the Pro Bowl. He’s barely played since. Off-the-field issues, including drug and alcohol rehab, have kept him out of the league for most of the last four seasons.

With the Browns coming off just the second 0-16 season in NFL history, now would be the perfect time for Gordon to revert back to into the Pro Bowl receiver he used to be. If he’s 100 percent healthy and in a good place personally, which he says he is, then there’s really no reason why he can’t make an impact against the Steelers.

“I feel 100 percent today and I’ll be 100 percent on Sunday,” Gordon added.

The last time Cleveland won a game, it was Christmas Eve, 2016. They are very much overdue for a little bit of luck to fall their way.
