Tom Brady continues to epitomize the ‘never satisfied’ mentality

No matter how old he gets or how many Super Bowls he wins, Tom Brady is always hungry for more.

Thousands of athletes embrace the “never satisfied” mentality. It’s a good way to make sure you always stay hungry and competitive.

But New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has always been the dictionary definition of this mentality. He’s about to entire his 19th year in the NFL, and he’s accomplished more than any quarterback could ever even hope to dream of.

At age 24, Brady was already a Super Bowl champion and a Super Bowl MVP. By age 27, he had two more Super Bowl titles. And that was just the very beginning of his career.

Now at 41, Brady is a five-time champion, a four-time Super Bowl MVP, a three-time NFL MVP and a 13-time Pro Bowler. He’s firmly cemented his status as the greatest quarterback of all time, and at this point, there’s not really a logical argument that anyone can make against it.

Despite all of that, Brady still wants more. He feels he still has more to prove. In other words, he’s “never satisfied.”

In the epilogue episode of “Tom vs. Time,” Brady reinstated his intention to play until age 45, which would mean five more NFL seasons.

“I would love to play five more years,” Brady said. “It will be a challenge for me. I don’t think it’s going to be easy. It’s f—king going to be hard to do. I think it’s going to be very hard to do. But I think I can do it.”

Brady has already won more Super Bowls than any quarterback in history. Usually when quarterbacks reach his age, they’ve already been retired for a few years. What more could he possibly hope to get out of his career?

That’s just it though. Brady has always taken the term “competitive” to a whole new level. Even at age 41, he feels like there is still plenty more to be accomplished.

“It would be like getting close to the top of the mountain and going, “Ah, it’s good. I’m good,’” Brady said. “No. You worked really hard to get to this point. Why not finish it off? Look at my career from, I don’t know, 30, 32, 33 on. A lot of players retire at 33. You look at football, 10-year career, that’s an amazing career. I mean, I think the last eight years of my career have been better than the first 10. So I should just prolong it. And that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Sooner or later, the undefeated Father Time has to take Brady out once and for all. But no player in NFL history has ever been better at evading Father Time than Brady. While he continues his battle against time, he might just win a few more Super Bowls along the way.

As soon as Brady wins another title, he’ll be ready for the next one. Because no matter how old he gets, he’s never satisfied.
