FanDuel NFL 2018: Week 6 lineup

Another week in the NFL, means another week of daily fantasy football. Which players should you have in your FanDuel contests? Here is a Week 6 lineup.

Last week’s lineup failed to exceed 100 points, but it still featured some of Week 5’s top performers. One player who had another great week was Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Adam Thielen. He caught seven passes for 116 yards and one score, in the team’s 23-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The fifth-year wideout because the first player in Super Bowl era to have 100+ receiving yards in each of his team’s first five games. Thielen scored 21.1 fantasy points, fifth most at the position in Week 5. He has scored 20+ fantasy points in three of his last four games.

Meanwhile, the two other wide receivers in Week 5’s lineup combined for only 13.6 fantasy points. Calvin Ridley caught four receptions for 38 yards. He averaged 9.5 yards per catch, his lowest total since Week 1. Similarly, John Brown also caught four passes for 58 yards, in Baltimore’s overtime loss to the Cleveland Browns. Brown was targeted a season high 14 passes, but Joe Flacco struggled to get him the ball.

Another top performer was Chargers running back Melvin Gordon. Gordon flashed his versatility compiling 120 total yards and scoring one touchdown. Through five games, Gordon has at least three games with 50+ receiving yards. His lone touchdown came in the 2nd quarter on the one-yard line to help give the Chargers a 17-3 lead.

Gordon finished the afternoon with 20 fantasy points, eighth most at the position.

At the quarterback position, Matt Ryan played a decent game, but it wasn’t nearly enough to top off the Pittsburgh Steelers. He completed 26-of-38 passes for 285 yards and one touchdown. He finished with 14.4 fantasy points.

The offensive line struggled to protect Ryan and he was sacked six times. He also lost a fumble that the Steelers returned for a touchdown. In Ryan’s last three games he has averaged over 300 yards per game, nine touchdowns and no interceptions. The Falcons are 0-3 in the last their last three games.

Dion Lewis had more carries than Derrick Henry in Sunday’s lost to the Buffalo Bills, but Lewis wasn’t as productive. He only produced 34 yards on 12 carries. Lewis struggled even in the pass game only reeling in three catches for 14 yards.

Tennessee defense allowed 223 yards, forced one turnover and gave up 13 points in the loss. But, they only scored seven fantasy points.

Matt Breida was on pace to have a big game after rushing eight times for 56 yards and hauling in one catch for a touchdown, before suffering an injury on the final play of the first quarter.

Breida already had 12.6 fantasy points before leaving the game, more points than last week. According to Matt Maiocco, Breida sustained an ankle injury and x-rays came back negative.

Finally, Jared Cook had his least productive game of the year against the Chargers. He caught four passes for 20 yards. Cook averaged five yards per catch, his lowest total in 2018.

My Week 6 lineup will only include players that are playing Sunday, minus the Sunday Night football matchup. Also, the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints are on their bye week.

Here were Week 5’s top performers at each position:

QB: Tom Brady, New England Patriots – 29.54 (Thursday Night)

RB: James Conor, Pittsburgh Steelers – 32.5 & Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams – 31.3

WR: Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants – 27.38; Robby Anderson, New York Jets – 25.8 & Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers – 25.1

TE: Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts – 27 (Thursday Night)

FLEX: Isiah Crowell, New York Jets – 29.6 & Saquon Barkley, New York Giants – 26.9

DEF: Cincinnati Bengals – 25

Quarterback: Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals- $7,500

The Cincinnati Bengals improved to 4-1 after last week’s 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins. A big reason why they are playing so well in 2018 is because of Dalton’s production.

Dalton has thrown for over 1,400 and 12 touchdowns through the first five games of the regular season.  His 12 touchdown passes are tied for third most at the position. He has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in every game but last week’s and has totaled 25+ fantasy points twice.

This week Dalton’s matchup is against the Pittsburgh Steelers is optimal. The Steelers have allowed opposing quarterbacks to score the most fantasy points this season. They have given up 1,602 yards and 13 touchdowns, the most in the NFL.

Dalton has struggled throughout his career against the Steelers posting a 3-11 overall record, but this Steelers defense is probably one of the weakest that he will face since entering the league.
