Brock Osweiler is starting again for the Dolphins

For the second consecutive week, Brock Osweiler will be under center for the Miami Dolphins, this time going against the Detroit Lions.

Are you ready for more Brocktober? The Miami Dolphins are going to ride with the man named Brock for the second time in as many weeks against an NFC North opponent, this time the Detroit Lions.

Osweiler got the emergency start on Sunday with the Chicago Bears down on South Beach, and he shocked the masses by not being terrible. In fact, he was pretty damn good against one of the league’s best defenses, going for 380 yards and a trio of touchdowns — albeit against two interceptions — in a 31-28 overtime win.

Ryan Tannehill was forced to miss last week’s game due to a shoulder injury and appears to still be hampered by it, as he wasn’t able to throw the football on Wednesday at practice. Head coach Adam Gase has already ruled Osweiler as the definitive starter, casting some doubt on whether Tannehill is certain to get his job back once healthy. The last time we saw Tannehill, he was turning the ball over twice on a pair of pick-sixes, helping to blow a 17-point lead to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5.

Miami is tied for first place in the AFC East with the New England Patriots, a team that routed the Dolphins back in Week 4. After losing Week 5 to the Bengals on the road, Miami has seemingly regrouped with the win over Chicago and is now trying to get to 5-2 and a fairly concrete position in the AFC playoff picture.

It’s hard to fathom Osweiler being the long-term answer for an NFL franchise, so smart money says that Tannehill takes the job back at some juncture. Until then, Brocktober, baby.
