Cowboys beat Eagles in OT with crazy deflected touchdown (Video)

The Cowboys knocked off the Eagles following an incredible deflected touchdown by Amari Cooper in overtime.

When it comes to crazy, fluky game-winning touchdowns, Dec. 9, 2018 might down as the craziest day in NFL history.

Early in the day, the Miami Dolphins stunned the New England Patriots with the “Miami Miracle” play in which they just essentially lateralled the ball all the way down the field with no time left on the clock — all after New England seemingly had the game clinched.

Hours later, the Dallas Cowboys joined in the fun. While their touchdown might not drop as many jaws as Miami’s did, it was still something to be in awe of.

The Cowboys were hosting their division rival Philadelphia Eagles at AT&T Stadium in a game that would factor heavily into the NFC East race. The game had entered overtime with the score knotted at 23-23, and Dallas won the overtime coin toss, meaning they just needed a touchdown to end the game.

After driving all the way down the field — which included Ezekiel Elliott picking up a fourth down conversion with a one-yard run — and eating up just about all of the overtime clock, the Cowboys finally found the end zone to seal the deal. On quarterback Dak Prescott’s 47th completion of the game — a franchise record for the Cowboys — Amari Cooper hauled in the 15-yard game-winner.

However, the pass would’ve fallen incomplete until Philly’s Rasul Douglas accidentally deflected the ball back into the air and right into the waiting arms of Cooper.

It was an incredible sequence, and an absolute stomach puncher for Eagles fans.

For an Eagles team desperately fighting to get back into the playoffs so they can defend their Super Bowl championship from a year ago, they might have just delivered their own knockout punch to themselves.

Next: Patriots announcers were not ready for that ending

The Cowboys and their fans, however, will gladly take it as the win moved them one step closer to clinching the NFC East.
