Buffalo Bills players think more Buffalo Bills players should be Pro Bowlers

The Buffalo Bills don’t have any Pro Bowlers right now, and a few members of the team have spoken about it.

All work but no Pro Bowlers make the Bills go crazy.

Despite having won three of their last five games, with a defense that’s top-five in the league in passing yards allowed total yards allowed, yards per play allowed, and first downs allowed, the Buffalo Bills secured a total of zero Pro Bowl selections this season.

Unsurprisingly, this did not go over well with the players.

Kicker Steven Hauschka spoke to how having no Pro Bowlers reflects poorly on the team.

Zay Jones turned it up a notch when speaking about the Bills having zero Pro Bowlers.

I think it’s BS, to be honest. As a whole, our defense has played phenomenal and it’s one of the top-ranked defenses in the league,” “I know that Kyle (Williams) and Jerry (Hughes) were alternates, and not to say that that’s anything to look down on, but to have guys not be in the Pro Bowl, I think is crap.

Jones is reaching a little bit on Jerry Hughes, Lorenzo Alexander and Jordan Poyer. Alexander himself served as a voice of reason, citing how the Bills have to win more to garner Pro Bowl respect.

The one significant Pro Bowl oversight for the Bills, as Jones cited, is cornerback Tre’Davious White. Among qualifying cornerbacks, through Week 14, Pro Football Focus ranked him first in snaps to target ratio (11), second in yards allowed per target (0.52) and second in snaps per reception allowed (20.5).

White did cite some struggles in recent games as something that hurt him, but Pro Bowl voting ended on Dec. 13 and his overall body of work for the season says more than a bad game or two. He’s becoming a shutdown corner, albeit only in his second season.

As a unit the Bills are a good defense, and outside of older veterans like Alexander and defensive lineman Kyle Williams most of the key pieces should remain in place going forward. Singular recognition is coming for White in particular, as he builds a reputation as one of the top corners in the league.
