After the most promising season of the decade, the Cleveland Browns are ready for continual growth starting with the 2019 NFL Draft.
What a year for the 2018 Cleveland Browns. They found their franchise quarterback, no thanks to their now exiled coach. They were able to win the most games since 2014 and did not finish last in the AFC North for the first time since 2010. Things are looking up for the once laughing stock of the league. It feels like a long time since the 2017 0-16 team graced the field.
With the aforementioned Hue Jackson out of the building, Cleveland handed coaching duties over to Freddie Kitchens. He built the team’s last season surge and has a relationship with Baker Mayfield. The former offensive coordinator will try to continue elevating Mayfield and putting pieces around him to succeed.
For all their years with tons of draft picks, the Browns are loaded and young across the board. Aside from Mayfield, fellow rookies Nick Chubb, Denzel Ward, Gernard Avery and Antonio Callaway all made an impact in their first year. Myles Garrett continues to impress in his short career.
That is one of the reasons the Browns should feel excited. This roster features very few true holes. Couple that with ample cap space and the Browns could be *dare I say it* competing for the playoffs next year.
Here is how the Browns could use their ample stock of draft picks in 2019 to round out a solid and young roster. Take into account that some of these needs could be filled via free agency. Before that this 2019 NFL mock draft will do it with draft picks. This mock draft was done using Fanspeak’s On the Clock tool.
