NFL free agency 2019: Best defensive linemen available

It’s already been an eventful NFL offseason and teams will only get busier. Here are the top defensive linemen that could test free agency on March 13.

There’s still a lot to be said about the role defense plays in the current NFL. A few months after some proclaimed that a 54-51 win by the Los Angeles Rams over the Kansas City Chiefs was the wave of the future, the New England Patriots bested those same Rams, 13-3, in the lowest-scoring Super Bowl ever.

When it comes to finding a defensive lineman in free agency in March, it could be quite the market. Whittling this list down the five was a chore — though hardly unpleasant. Will any of these players be with new teams in 2019?

5. DE Brandon Graham (Philadelphia Eagles)

In some ways, he was the real hero of the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots in 2017. It was a game in which quarterback Tom Brady would wind up throwing for a Super Bowl record/postseason record 505 yards. But it was defensive and Brandon Graham who got to the prolific passer late in the fourth quarter in what proved to be the Birds’ only sack of the day. The ball came out, teammate Derek Barnett recovered it and it made the Pats’ attempt at a comeback a whole lot tougher.

The former Michigan Wolverine was Philadelphia’s first-round draft choice back in 2010. In nine seasons with the club, he’s lined up in various spots and played in different schemes. Graham has amassed 42.5 sacks and 16 forced fumbles and has also been effective against the run. But will he be back in the City of Brotherly Love in 2019? He makes for a worthwhile acquisition given his versatility
