Browns fan calls 911 over Odell Beckham trade

Fans in Cleveland are getting pretty darn excited about the Odell Beckham trade. So excited that the cops got involved.

Things are getting crazy in Cleveland. Predictably, since the Browns traded for a player with the global popularity and generational talent of Odell Beckham, the entire fan base has gone bonkers.

That excitement was put on full display when an Ohio woman frantically called 911 about a neighbor running around outside, yelling and flailing their arms. She worried that something was wrong and put her kids back in the car, reports said.

Well, it turns out that the crazy neighbor was just a 17-year-old Browns fan who couldn’t contain his excitement about his favorite team acquiring Beckham.

We’ve seen some over-the-top displays of fandom before, but this one’s gotta be pretty high up on the list simply for its strangeness.

It’s hard to be that surprised, though, considering how starved Cleveland fans – and Browns fans, in particular – are for a winning team. Before LeBron James won a title with the Cavaliers in 2016, the city had gone a mind-boggling 52 years without a championship; so long, in fact , that it had been dubbed the “Cleveland Sports Curse.”

Things haven’t been quite as bad in recent years for the Cavs and even the Cleveland Indians, who were an out away from a World Series title in 2016. But the Browns, as you’re probably well aware, have been the laughing stock of the NFL for almost two decades.

They haven’t made the playoffs since 2002, and they haven’t won a playoff game since 1994. So when a move is made that nearly doubles their odds of winning the Super Bowl, of course they’re gonna go a bit overboard.

It’s an exciting time to be a Browns fan, as their quarterback of the future just had the best rookie QB season ever, their young defense is developing well and they just acquired the most electric playmaker in football.

So let them have a little fun, all right?
