The Houston Texans are led by an electric young quarterback and need to hit on the 2019 NFL Draft to keep up with a very good AFC South.
Even with a lack of draft picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans were able to piece together a team that went on a nine game winning streak. That streak carried them into the playoffs. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is a star, and recovered well from a knee injury that would have derailed many. There are weapons for him and elite talent on the defensive side of the ball. This team is poised to make another run back to the playoffs in 2019.
The offseason was relatively kind to Houston as well. They lost safety Tyrann Mathieu, and that is a tough blow. Bringing in Teshaun Gipson, formerly of the Jaguars, should soften that blow. He may not be Honey Badger but he is a capable safety that can help the young Justin Reid on the back-end. Welcomed additions to a secondary that struggled are Bradley Roby and Briean Boddy-Calhoun. They give the Texans a pair of corners that can compete inside and out.
That wraps it up for Houston’s offseason so far. The rest will be about continuing to help out Watson on offense and add some pieces on defense to compliment the fantastic unit in place. That could certainly trade should they trade away Jadaveon Clowney.
