2019 NFL Draft: 5 players Ravens could take in Round 1

The Ravens have handed their offense over to Lamar Jackson, but will they draft some help for the second-year quarterback in Round 1 of this year’s draft?

It’s safe to assume the Ravens are going to look a lot different in 2019 than they did in the beginning of the 2018 campaign. The transition from Joe Flacco to Lamar Jackson at quarterback will completely change the complexion of the Baltimore offense. If that transition is going to be successful, the Ravens need to give Jackson more weapons to work with.

The team recently signed Seth Roberts to boost their wide receiver corps, but more work is absolutely required. The Ravens have to find a No. 1 receiver for Jackson in this draft. It might not happen in Round 1, but Baltimore can’t begin the regular season with Willie Snead as the team’s top pass catcher.

The Ravens might also choose to add some offensive line help to boost their run game. That’s a big part of Jackson’s game and the franchise will want to lean heavily on free agency acquisition Mark Ingram to help keep the chains moving next season. Finding an immediate starter at guard or center might be attractive to the Ravens at No. 22. The following five prospects have a great chance to be the Ravens first round pick.

5. Cody Ford

The Ravens want to run the football as much as any team in the NFL. As such, drafting arguably the best run blocking guard in this class makes a lot of sense. No. 22 might be a little high to select Ford, but he’d be an immediate starter in Baltimore.

He would serve as an immediate upgrade over Alex Lewis. Ford also could potentially shift outside to tackle later in his career. The Ravens shouldn’t worry about where other teams have him rated on their board, grabbing an immediate starter at No. 22 would be good business for Baltimore.
