NFL announces international games ahead of schedule release

With the full schedule set to be released later today, the NFL decided to tease a bit of what’s to come by unveiling the 2019 International Series.

Today is schedule release day, and NFL fans are looking forward to the dates and times of all 256 games in the 2019 season so they can begin planning tailgating schedules, road trips and work absences to check out all the action. The NFL did fans of teams playing in the International Series a solid, releasing those games now to give any ambitious travelers even more prep time to get ready for trips to London or Mexico City.

The first four games of the International Series will be in London, beginning with the Chicago Bears playing the Oakland Raiders on Oct. 6 and the Carolina Panthers taking on the Tampa Buccaneers on Oct. 13. Both of those games will take place at the new stadium of Premier League soccer club Tottenham, the first NFL games to be held at the venue.

After a one week break the NFL returns to London on Oct. 27, when the Los Angeles Rams host the Cincinnati Bengals. The Jacksonville Jaguars are next up on Nov. 3, hosting the Houston Texans in a divisional matchup, with both of those games slated for Wembley Stadium.

The marquee game of the International Series comes on Nov. 18, when the Los Angeles Chargers host the Kansas City Chiefs at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The NFL had a game at Azteca on the schedule this season, with the Rams scheduled to host the Chiefs, but the contest was shifted back to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions.

The Chiefs-Chargers showdown will be a part of ESPN’s Monday Night Football package, which is now minus Jason Witten after he un-retired to rejoin the Dallas Cowboys.
