2020 NFL Draft: Where will Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert go?

Now that the 2019 NFL Draft has ended, all eyes turn toward next year’s class of quarterbacks. Could these top three quarterbacks end up in the perfect spot?

We would be lying if we said that this year’s NFL quarterback draft class was filled with talent. While Kyler Murray did go first overall to the Arizona Cardinals, he still has many questions surrounding his game. The next quarterback to go off the board was Dwayne Haskins to the Washington Redskins which saw him get passed up by two or three teams who could have used a rookie quarterback.

Even though everyone thought the Denver Broncos were so into Drew Lock, they waited till their third pick in the draft and selected Lock after they chose Dalton Risner in the second round. After those three “top” quarterbacks came off the list the rest of the quarterback draft class wasn’t very good.

However, in the 2020 draft class, there are going to be a lot of very talented quarterbacks on the board. The three biggest names that are almost automatic top 10 picks are Tua Tagovailoa out of Alabama, Jake Fromm out of Georgia and Justin Herbert out of Oregon. With these three leading the way for the quarterback draft class next year, it will be interesting to see where they end up. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the potential landing spots for these three top prospects.

Jake Fromm – Cincinnati Bengals

This seems like the perfect match for both Fromm and the Bengals. The Bengals are about to begin another very interesting season. Especially with a new coach in Zac Taylor, the Bengals could be headed towards drafting a top quarterback in the 2020 draft. While they still do have Andy Dalton on their roster and just drafted Ryan Finley out of NC State, it looks like the Bengals will at least be in the position to draft a quarterback like Fromm.

If the Bengals struggle mightily this season (which it looks like they will), it would only make sense for them to move on from Dalton. This would allow the young and offensive minded Zac Taylor to groom and make his own young quarterback. While Taylor’s time with the Los Angeles Rams was cut short due to the opening to become head coach for the Bengals, he did do great work with Jared Goff as the Rams came within one game of winning the Super Bowl.

If the Bengals do move on from Dalton in 2020 and draft Fromm, it would leave them with a depth chart of Fromm and Ryan Finley. This would create a much needed competition between Finley and Fromm to compete for the starting job.

With the Bengals all but heading to another slow season, don’t be surprised if Jake Fromm ends up on the Cincinnati Bengals once the 2020 draft rolls around.
