Cleveland Browns, Fantasy Football

Which Cleveland (Avengers) Browns are poised for fantasy success?

Here are two players from the newly formed Cleveland Browns offense that I see having breakout seasons for your fantasy football team, with Avengers comps.

The NFL draft is over. The opening night of Avengers: Endgame, came last week, but it’s still going strong. Rest assured, there are NO SPOILERS here.

Right now, you’re probably sitting around your cubicle, thinking about what could of been during the previous fantasy football season. Should I have drafted X? Should I have picked up Y? Should I have traded for Z? These are all valid questions that you should definitely be pondering, instead of finishing up that report for your boss about last quarter’s numbers.

The 2019 offseason has been a whirlwind of trades, drafting and signings, but it’s very clear that the Cleveland Browns are poised to make some noise one way or another this season. Here are two players from the newly formed Cleveland “Avengers” Browns offense that I see having breakout seasons. I also included each player’s Avenger comparison for those movie nerds out there like myself.

Baker Mayfield, QB

This gunslinging Avenger catches everyone’s attention with his personality both on the field and off. Yet in 2019, his play will catch your team a playoff berth.

Let’s look back at his rookie season last year, over his final two games he threw for an average 330 yards and three touchdowns. While no one will argue that he didn’t have his ups and downs over the year, he’s poised for a big breakout. Not only will he have his rookie learning curve behind him, but the Browns added a couple new weapons to the arsenal. Between previous playmakers Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb and David Njoku he had a nice stable of weapons. Throw in Odell Beckham Jr. and Kareem Hunt starting in Week 9 and you have an embarrassment of riches.

Just to give you an idea of Odell’s potential impact on Baker Mayfield, take a peek back to his time with Eli Manning. When Odell was on the field, Eli’s QBR was a whopping 16.5 points higher than when Odell was sidelined. Also, Hunt is known for his skill as a receiving back, having 833 yards receiving on 79 catches in 26 career games. Look for Mayfield to improve in every statistical category.

2018 stats:

3,725 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions

2019 Projection:

4,400 yards with 35 touchdowns and 14 interceptions

Avengers comparison:

Tony Stark – Leads the group with swag, next-level comebacks and knows how to put on a show.
