Odell Beckham’s not wrong about state of the Giants

In an interview with GQ, Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. opened up out how he felt about his old team, the New York Giants.

Odell Beckham Jr. is no stranger to controversy, but the latest one may prove the point that the truth is hard to swallow, but must be said.

In a sit-down interview with GQ magazine, Odell Beckham Jr. opened up about his time with the team that previously employed his services, the New York Giants. In the interview, he said that when the Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns, he didn’t feel disappointed.

He felt disrespected.

“I felt disrespected. Like, after everything I’ve done for this team,” he said about the trade. That quote, alone, would have Big Blue Nation up-in-arms, but what out of OBJ’s mouth next may have sent the pitchforks out for him.”

“This is me being honest: This team has not been good for the last six years. I felt like I was a main reason at keeping that brand alive.”

Hear that sound?

That’s the sound of a truth bomb nuking an entire fanbase.

During his five seasons in the Meadowlands, the team went 31-49 and had just one winning season during that era and no playoff wins. So, yes, the Giants did indeed stink when he was there, and with the decline of Eli Manning, he was “the star” on the Giants.

Now Big Blue Nation will counter that OBJ never brought them playoff success, let along get them another sniff at Super Bowl glory, and they have a point. I counter that point by saying was it because of OBJ? Or was it because of a team that was aging and not getting better around their young star?

I’ll give you a minute to think about it.

Was Beckham Jr. being brutally honest when he ripped the Giants to shreds in GQ?

But, as the old saying goes, the truth is hard to swallow.
