Tyreek Hill leaves Chiefs game on cart

The scoreboard is turning in Jacksonville as the Kansas City Chiefs are racking up points, but they  may have just lost Tyreek Hill with a shoulder injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a fast start in Jacksonville, building a 17-7 lead over the Jaguars on the strength of two Patrick Mahomes touchdowns to Sammy Watkins, but they might have suffered a huge loss in the process.

Star receiver Tyreek Hill was carted off the field with a shoulder injury. Hill, who has caught two passes for 16 yards and has a carry for five yards, is officially listed as questionable to return.

If the Chiefs lose Hill for an extended period of time it would be a tough blow for their offense. Kansas City has plenty of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, including Watkins, Travis Kelce, Damien Williams, and rookie Mecole Hardman but Hill is without question their biggest game breaker.

Hill’s game breaking speed is something that defenses have to account for on the field, and his mere presence creates more opportunities for the likes of Watkins and Kelce against single coverage. The Chiefs should be fine today against Jacksonville if Hill can’t return to the game, but it could be a bigger issue against tougher opposition down the road.

Hill isn’t the only notable player to leave this contest with an injury. Jaguars’ quarterback Nick Foles is out after getting pile driven to the ground by a pair of Chiefs’ defenders, suffering an injury to his left shoulder.

The Jaguars now have rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew in the game, and that alone should boost the Chiefs’ odds of winning this game even without the services of Hill. Time will tell, however, if this is an injury could plague Hill for the next few weeks or beyond.
