The Broncos handed the keys to their offense over to Drew Lock in 2019. Will Denver get him some help in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft?

Free agency has been very productive for the Broncos. Adding stars like A.J. Bouye and Jurrell Casey will massively improve the team’s defense. Signing Melvin Gordon should give the team’s ground game a much-needed boost.

That still leaves second-year quarterback Drew Lock in need of more weapons in the passing game. That’s where Denver should focus their attention in the first round. This draft class is loaded at the wide receiver position. If the Broncos don’t come away with an impact player at No. 15, their front office blew it.

The real question the team needs to answer is which weapon they want to target. There are a number of intriguing options out there. Finding the right player who will still be available when Denver goes on the clock will be a tough calculation for the front office to make. Look for the Broncos to end up with one of the following five players on draft night.

5. CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma receiver

The chances of CeeDee Lamb falling all the way down to No. 15 aren’t very good. If the Broncos want to grab the former Oklahoma star they’ll need to trade up several spots. The juice might be worth the squeeze for a player of Lamb’s caliber.

The combination of his big catch radius and uncanny ability to win 50/50 balls in the air would give Lock a lot more room for error when throwing the ball downfield. Lamb also has the ability to make big plays after the catch. He’d take a lot of heat off of Courtland Sutton on an every-down basis.

Drafting Lamb would be a dream for Denver. He’s a perfect fit for what they need on offense. The only question is whether they’re willing to pay the price required to move up and select him.
