Ben Roethlisberger gives coronavirus PSA with epic beard

Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger provided an important message for fans amidst the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Like the rest of us, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is staying at home in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, doing his part to flatten the curve to mitigate – and hopefully shorten – the length of the crisis.

Roethlisberger provided an update to fans on social media, informing everyone he’s doing well.

But his statement went beyond that. Roethlisberger used his platform to urge those watching to stay inside, check in with others online, and do their part to keep others safe.

He also offered some ideas about what people can do to pass the time while they are inside their houses. Roethlisberger himself explained he’s been homeschooling his children, and his son made a remark about enjoying playing charades.

And of course, “Big Ben” said all of this while rocking an awesome beard. Maybe he should have given some beard/mustache grooming tips so others could step up their facial hair game in the midst of the outbreak.

Athletes across all sports have been doing their best to spread the message about public health and get their supporters to stay at home, instead of becoming spreaders who could potentially infect those especially vulnerable to the virus.

It’s great to see Roethlisberger is in good spirits, enjoying time with his family, and passing along wisdom to others. He also made sure to give a shoutout to first responders and healthcare professionals, who have been true heroes during this incredibly difficult time.

Next: Grades for the Steelers signing Eric Ebron

Roethlisberger is coming off elbow surgery in September after a season-ending injury but said he’s throwing without any pain and will likely be cleared in the coming months. Hopefully, the 38-year-old Steelers legend continues to make strides in his recovery.
