Patrick Mahomes is thrilled to run it back with Demarcus Robinson

The Kansas City Chiefs retained wide receiver Demarcus Robinson on a one-year deal, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is feeling good about it.

Patrick Mahomes is having a good Saturday.

Over the weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs made their third move of the week, this time re-signing Demarcus Robinson to a one-year deal worth $2.3 million, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The news spread quickly around Twitter, and the Chiefs’ superstar quarterback weighed in with his thoughts.

For Mahomes, keeping Robinson gives him another speedy weapon to utilize in Kansas City’s blinding pass attack. Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Sammy Watkins all earn more attention than Robinson, but the 25-year-old is worthy of praise as well.

In his fourth NFL season, Robinson totaled 32 catches for 449 yards and four touchdowns. The highlights if his Super Bowl-winning campaign came in consecutive weeks, with the former University of Florida standout catching six passes for 172 yards and two scores in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders in a 28-10 win.

The following week, Robinson made a circus catch in the back left corner of the end zone against the Baltimore Ravens, helping Kansas City to hand Baltimore it’s first of two regular-season losses all year.

This offseason has been particularly tough on veteran receivers trying to earn a large payday, save or Amari Cooper. Only Randall Cobb has gotten more than $20 million in any deal, while Emmanuel Sanders and Robby Anderson only got two-year pacts, and are essentially are playing for a 2021 option.

The struggle is largely due to the outstanding rookie class at the position, with Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, Ceedee Lamb, Denzel Mims, Justin Jefferson and others headlining one of the best groups we’ve seen in decades.
