The Green Bay Packers need to optimize their time with Aaron Rodgers. What moves could they make around the NFL Draft to improve their roster?
After back-to-back, nine-loss seasons, the Packers found their groove again with new head coach Matt LaFleur and went 13-3 in 2019, even with star receiver Davante Adams missing four games. They lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship pretty handily, but they are just a piece or two away from getting over the hump. Aaron Rodgers will be in the Hall of Fame, but he hasn’t won a Super Bowl in almost 10 years.
These are three moves the Packers should consider making in order to give their franchise quarterback at least one more before his career is over.
1. Get into the top 15
With the Packers holding the 30th pick of this year’s draft, moving that far up will be expensive. But the Packers desperately need an offensive playmaker, and the best ones probably will not fall to 30.
This class is filled with stud wide receivers. Solely trading up to 15 gives them a chance at somebody. Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb falling to 15 would be a pipe dream for the Packers, but Henry Ruggs III ran a 4.27, and Rodgers still has a huge cannon. Justin Jefferson and Denzel Mims are both potential options on the cheap who can change the entire dynamic of the offense that needs one more boost for its first Super Bowl title in 10 years. D’Andre Swift can be a solid change of pace back, and a much better option than Jamaal Williams.
