Chiefs slam Patrick Mahomes critics with epic hype video

The Kansas City Chiefs took Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft, but some pundits had negative words. Three years later, the team is clapping back.

Patrick Mahomes has won an NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP and championship in two years as a starter.

Is that good?

The Kansas City Chiefs believed in him enough to trade up 17 spots in the 2017 NFL Draft before taking Mahomes at No. 10 overall. After sitting behind Alex Smith for a season, Mahomes took the league by storm in 2018, throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns, en route to the league MVP.

The following season, Mahomes once more led the Chiefs into the playoffs before dispatching the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans to earn a Super Bowl berth. In Super Bowl LIV, Mahomes led Kansas City to an improbable fourth-quarter comeback over the San Francisco 49ers, wining 31-20.

However, at the moment he was selected out of Texas Tech, there was plenty of negativity.

While the Chiefs don’t call out the pundits by name, they include some audio clips. Here’s a sampling of what was said:

“He’s a gunslinger, and I don’t know that you can coach the bad stuff out of him that you need to play winning football.”

“Why are you drafting a quarterback that doesn’t just have bad footwork, but. has no footwork?”

“This kid might not work out, I’ve seen this type before.”

“These razzle dazzle plays that leave us saying ‘wow, look at this,’ the stuff doesn’t translate to our business.”

Yeah… oops.
