Broncos continue to surround Drew Lock with weapons

The Denver Broncos chose immensely talented receivers with their first two picks of the 2020 NFL Draft. It’s clear they are doing everything they can to make sure Drew Lock will succeed.

The Denver Broncos are looking to build an offense that can keep up with the AFC West and that can give quarterback Drew Lock the best possible situation to succeed. In the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Broncos chose dynamic wide receivers.

In the first round of the draft, they chose Jerry Jeudy out of Alabama. He’s considered one of the better wide receiver prospects in a while. After consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons at Alabama, just the second person to do that in school history, he kept pushing himself to get better. He’s someone who looks at every route to get better, both on and off the field.

Then, on Friday night the Broncos used their second-round pick to select KJ Hamler out of Penn State. Hamler is a player with insane skill, but he does come with a few issues (drops, mainly). He has one of the best first moves in the receiver pool this year, and that could make him a really good option right off the bat. Having Hamler next to him will give Jeudy flashbacks of life with Henry Ruggs III.

The Broncos know that Lock has shown flashes, but he needs to be put in the right situation if he wants to become a winner. It’s clear that Lock himself is very happy with how the Broncos draft has gone so far.

After all this time, we haven’t even talked about the fact the Broncos have Courtland Sutton on the team. In his second season, Sutton took a major step forward. He caught 74 balls for 1,112 yards. We knew he could be the type of guy to be a top receiver, but now he can be just one part of a three-headed monster that will be a nightmare for opposing secondaries.

John Elway has his past when it comes to offensive pieces, especially at the quarterback position, but it’s clear right now he’s putting together an offense worth salivating over. Beyond Jeudy, Hamler and Sutton, they also signed Melvin Gordon to compliment Philip Lindsey at running back, and drafted Noah Fant at tight end last season.

This is a Broncos team that will be one that’s incredibly fun to watch, and this latest pick of Hamler only adds to the excitement fans must have for this team.
