Dallas Cowboys sign former Bengals’ QB Andy Dalton

Dallas Cowboys sign former Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton just days after being cut from the team.

The Dallas Cowboys are collecting quarterbacks and made yet another move on Saturday evening. According to Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have signed former Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year contract. The specs: $7 million which includes $3 million guaranteed.

Dalton was just cut by the Bengals on Thursday. He spoke on that release shortly after.

“This year there were a good amount of quarterbacks that were available,” Dalton said (h/t ESPN) “I think it would have worked out differently if I had been a free agent when the new league year started. I was still under contract and that hurt me.”

The Bengals were unable to afford Dalton’s $17.7 million salary for the final year of his contract after they elected quarterback Joe Burrow with the first overall pick in the draft.

The Cowboys currently have four quarterbacks on their roster. Their starter, Dak Prescott has not re-signed with the Cowboys and is playing on a franchise tag. Dalton could stand to be a decent backup for the star.

Dalton already owns a home in Dallas, making this a perfect fit for the player.

Next: Andy Dalton is a free agent, which is great news for these teams
