In year two with Adam Gase, how well can the New York Jets do? Here is a game-by-game breakdown of the 2020 season with score predictions.

Much to the dismay of many fans, Adam Gase was hired as the team’s head coach prior to the 2019 season. In his first year, the Jets went 7-9.

Injuries ravaged the roster and prevented integral players from suiting up each week. Although, the defense was stout, Jamal Adams was wondrous, and the Jets went 6-2 after a 1-7 start.

The 2020 schedule is much stronger than last year’s slate. Per usual, the Jets will play six divisional games against the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.

Outside of the division, the Jets will play the robust AFC West, as well as the NFC West and opponents from the AFC North and South.

Now that New York’s schedule has been released, here is the regular-season breakdown.

Weeks 1-4

Prediction

New York Jets

17

Buffalo Bills

21

Unlike last season, the Bills will beat the Jets at home and sweep the season series. Josh Allen will have more options to throw to, and the team’s defense is still one of the better units in the league.

Darnold and the Jets will find it hard to move the ball against this team again in Buffalo, which will lead to a low score of just 17. Defensively, the Jets will keep it close, but ultimately that’s all it will do.

Prediction

San Francisco 49ers

31

New York Jets

14

Jimmy Garoppolo was essentially one pass away from securing a Super Bowl title last year. The 49ers pounded the ball on the ground with the rushing attack and got after it on defense, which led to a 13-3 record.

John Lynch has replaced most of what was lost during the offseason, and now the team gets ready to go again. The 49ers are a legitimate Super Bowl contender, the Jets will fight to finish .500.

Even on the road, the Niners will handle the Jets.

Prediction

New York Jets

20

Indianapolis Colts

27

Philip Rivers will be the quarterback for the Colts in 2020. He will also have a band of playmakers surrounding him. T.Y. Hilton and Marlon Mack were already in the fold, and Chris Ballard drafted Michael Pittman Jr. and Jonathan Taylor.

The secondary for the Jets got better, but still needs work, and the Colts have one of the best offensive lines in football. Rivers can establish the run and then break it open on play action.

Prediction

Denver Broncos

24

New York Jets

21

Suddenly, the Broncos boast a potentially viable offense. Drew Lock will have many weapons to choose from, including new additions Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler.

Jeudy, Hamler, Courtland Sutton, Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay round out a fantastic group.

Winning on the road is hard, especially when you are traveling a long distance such as Denver to New York. That won’t bother the Broncos this time. The Jets will play them close, but the Broncos have too many impact players on both sides of the ball.
