Mike Evans did not mince words when it came to Fox News Laura Ingraham’s defense of Drew Brees.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans did not hold back in his short, but effective criticism of Fox News and Laura Ingraham on Twitter. On Thursday, a video from Complex Sports was making the rounds comparing Ingraham’s rebuke of LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s protests against police brutality and racial injustice with Drew Brees’ statement on NFL players “disrespecting the flag” if they kneel during the national anthem.
In the first clip, Ingraham goes off on how James and Durant, among other athletes, should stick to sports and keep their political commentary to themselves because they are paid to play sports and nothing more. In the other, Ingraham states that Brees is allowed to have an opinion about NFL players kneeing in protest, despite also making millions of dollars for throwing a football around.

On Twitter, Evans quote tweeted the video and had quite the strong reaction to it all.
“People like her are f*****g disgusting.”
Evans has been vocal about his support of the Black Lives Matter movement on Twitter, alongside his stances on racial injustice and police brutality, so this comment is not surprising in the slightest.
In the days since the George Floyd protests began after the man was murdered by police officers in Minneapolis, players across all of sports have been speaking out on these issues. This week, Brees’ comments about how NFL players kneeling in protest during the anthem is “disrespectful to the flag” caught fire fast in the sports world.
While Brees has since apologized for his “insensitive” comments, NFL players such as Evans, Martellus Bennett and Malcolm Jenkins have all had a comment about the matter over the last few days. Even though Brees has apologized, it would not be a surprise to see more NFL players speak out about this issue on Twitter and various other social media platforms.
