First look of CeeDee Lamb in No. 88 for the Dallas Cowboys

CeeDee Lamb looks fantastic in No. 88, can he live up to the hype?

The number 88 carries a lot of weight for the Dallas Cowboys. Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant and now CeeDee Lamb has officially put the 88 on his back for the first time. The wide receiver posted an epic first-look with his arms open wide on Instagram on Friday.

“You ready?” it’s captioned. Simple and to the point.

And the answer is … hell yeah we are.

CeeDee Lamb was almost another number, other than 88

Lamb, who was picked 17th overall by Dallas, almost didn’t even end up with that storied number.

“I had the option of picking 10 or 88, and I picked 10,” Lamb said during an interview with GBag Nation on 105.3 The Fan (h/t DallasNews.com). “And then, kind of going more in-depth with the situation, just kind of understanding the tradition and how much that number means to this organization, and then how much of a foundation that number holds itself – the great legends before me and what they’ve done with that number. It’s kind of like, why not keep the tradition going, you know? Obviously, they didn’t retire the number for a reason. So, just trying to keep the legacy of 88 going in Dallas.”

Lamb will have the chance to wear it for the fans (watching on TV of course) when Dallas has it’s first pre-season game when they take on the Chargers on Aug. 18, 2020.
