San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks and 49ers will battle it out again in 2020

The battle for the NFC West title will bring the Seahawks-49ers rivalry to an all-time high.

In the quest for the No. 1. spot in the NFC, there is no better rivalry than the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.

Last season’s dramatic contests between the two teams left the Seahawks with plenty to prove, and the 49ers are desperate to stay on top after their runner-up finish at the Super Bowl. This duo is set up for another major showdown this season.

A single game against the 49ers arguably ruined the Seahawks’ playoff plans in 2019. After Seattle pulled out a narrow three-point overtime victory in Week 10, the 49ers came back with a vengeance in Week 17 with playoff seeding on the line.

In the final seconds of the game, the Niners’ defense twice stopped the Seahawks inches from the goal line and ended up with the win. That gave them a playoff bye, while the Seahawks were forced to tire themselves out against the Philadelphia Eagles, after which they lost to the Green Bay Packers.

This offseason, the 49ers have had very little movement, and their roster will look very similar to 2019. Every player lost to free agency or retirement has a strong replacement waiting to fill their shoes, and the team will remain Super Bowl favorites this year.

The bigger issue for the 49ers will be a very tough schedule. In December, they’ll face a brutal stretch of games that ends with, you guessed it, the Seahawks.

The Niners are on the defensive right now, as they’ll be fighting to keep their NFC title from last year. Seattle, on the other hand, has more room to ascend. It’s been six years since its last Super Bowl appearance. The Seahawks haven’t had a great offseason, but they still have the key pieces they need to make 2020 their comeback year.

The two teams face off this season once in early November and again at the very end of the season. This sets them up for just as much drama as 2019, and a win in those games will be absolutely key for both teams. Don’t be surprised when crazy overtime plays end up deciding the winner.
