Watch Adam Cole go after Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show (NSFW Video)

WWE’s Adam Cole went after popular sports talk show host Pat McAfee on Thursday.

Things got out of hand when Adam Cole appeared on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday.

The former All-Pro punter for the Indianapolis Colts and West Virginia Mountaineers standout is well on his way towards building a media empire of his own in his early 30s. The Pat McAfee Show has been a resounding success since it was launched. McAfee also brings his one-of-a-kind approach to calling football games in the booth. He’s been a huge asset for ESPN in recent years.

Even though his sports talk show can be a little risqué and off-the-cuff, after all, McAfee never wears sleeves during any production of his show, it got particularly nasty when Cole appeared on the show Thursday. McAfee may have mentioned something about the WWE NXT wrestler’ height and Cole went after McAfee like he was impersonating Jim Everett going after Jim Rome.

Was Adam Cole’s verbal assault and attack on The Pat McAfee Show staged?

If it was, that is kayfabe to perfection right there. However, it doesn’t seem likely because of the way McAfee and his production staff reacted to the incident. As McAfee tweeted out, Cole broke a mic, a head set and shoved the show’s producer Ty Schmidt when he tried to break up the fight that was about to ensue. McAfee seems completely blown away by what just happened to him.

We have experienced one of the weirdest afternoons in sports in a very, very long time. The 32nd franchise in NHL history will be known as the Seattle Kraken. The logo may have gotten leaked, but otherwise, everyone seems to love the name, look, logo and jerseys. On the other side of things, the NFL team in Washington will be known as The Washington Football Team for 2020.

So why not throw in a professional wrestler nearly attacking a popular sports talk host who used to be Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck’s punter in Indianapolis? When McAfee dove off a double-decker boat and into the Brazos River next to David Pollack on ESPN’s College GameDay ahead of a Baylor Bears game, we thought we had seen it all. We’ll remember this moment for a while.

The Pat McAfee Show ended abruptly Thursday, but he may have gotten his Jim Rome moment.
