Jamal Adams made sure to thank the New York Jets fans after getting traded.
Jamal Adams plays for the Seattle Seahawks, but he wanted to thank his New York Jets fans.
On Saturday afternoon, the two-time Pro Bowl safety and 2019 First-Team All-Pro with Gang Green was traded to Seattle in a blockbuster deal that gives the Jets a pair of future first-round picks. Adams spent his first three NFL seasons with the team that drafted him in the first round out of LSU. He may have had issues with the organization, but always had love for the fanbase.
Adams took to Twitter on Saturday evening, making sure the Jets fans know how much he loved playing for them during his three-year run with the team from 2017 to 2019.
“To NY & especially the Jets fans: I love you & will always love you. You all will hold a special place in my heart forever. When I came into the league, you embraced me & watched me grow! We went through it all together. Thank you for the Luv & support these 3 years. #Prez Out.”
Prez may play in Seattle now, but how will New York handle his departure?
Jets fans have to feel pretty horrible right now. Their best player didn’t even play out his rookie contract with the team. The Jets extended the fifth-year option to him this offseason, but he’ll now play the final two years of his rookie deal in Seattle for defensive back maven head coach Pete Carroll. He goes from a dumpster fire of an organization to a proven winner with one trade.
The Jets haven’t qualified for the AFC Playoffs since 2010. They played in back-to-back AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as their quarterback and Rex Ryan as their head coach. While the 2015 season was FitzMagical, it didn’t culminate in a playoff berth and New York has been utterly rudderless ever since. They are now the unquestioned worst team in the AFC East.
Jets fans have suffered enough with their poorly-run franchise. Unless you’re the Cleveland Browns, you should make the NFL playoffs at least once a decade. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will surely end their decade-plus long skid this year because Tom Brady is their quarterback. For Gang Green, it’s all about Sam Darnold carrying this loathsome burden of a roster on his back in 2020.
Adams wishes Jets fans the very best, but we all know the losses are inevitable this fall for them.
